Environment, Humans and Traditional Life: Selected Stories brings together short stories that explore the relationship between humans and the environment through traditional ways of life, cultural values, and the perspectives of young writers. Published by Cappadocia University Press, the collection features stories written by 20 young Turkish authors. The stories address themes such as the environment, nature, climate change, rural life, traditions, social transformation, and human–nature relationships through diverse narratives.
Spanning different periods and settings, the stories question the ways in which humans interact with their environment while highlighting the changing place of nature and traditional ways of life in a transforming world. In addition to drawing attention to environmental concerns, the collection emphasizes the importance of cultural memory and humanity’s connection with nature as values that can be passed on to future generations. In this respect, the book brings together the perspectives of young writers and contributes to the fields of environmental literature and the Environmental Humanities.
