About the Award

Definition and Criteria

The Environmental Sustainability Leadership Award aims to support the achievements of final-year students who have demonstrated outstanding success in participating in environmental sustainability efforts during their university education and carrying out awareness-raising activities to develop ecological sensitivity.

This award encourages the development of students who possess the competence and ecological awareness to propose sustainable solutions to the environmental crisis, one of the most urgent issues on the global agenda today.

Environmental Sustainability Leadership Award

Environmental sustainability studies and research encompass projects, implementations, and research on sustainable energy, pollution, waste management, animal rights, organic agriculture and production, food security, ecological architecture, ecological economics, sustainable cities, and more. Awareness-raising activities aimed at developing environmental sensitivity include initiatives and projects that help make these topics understandable in the context of the climate crisis, raise awareness about them through various cultural tools, and promote more harmonious lifestyles and daily practices with the natural environment.
Students in their graduation year can apply for the Environmental Sustainability Leadership Award by documenting their activities on and off campus during their academic years.
The award amount for the 2024-2025 academic year has been set at 8,000 TRY, and one student will receive it each year.
This award is open to students in their graduation year who have contributed in the areas listed below by participating in activities related to environmental sustainability, raising ecological awareness, and designing and implementing projects on these issues, both on and off-campus, during their academic period:

Steps for Environmental Sustainability
  • Participate in environmental sustainability activities conducted within the university.
  • Design projects and/or conduct academic studies related to environmental sustainability within the university.
  • Design events and projects focused on developing environmental sustainability and ecological awareness outside the university.
  • Organize awareness-raising activities and/or projects to increase ecological sensitivity and awareness within the university.
  • Participate in the activities of non-governmental organizations focused on environmental sustainability and ecological sensitivity outside the university.

Required Documents for Application:

  • A personal application letter explaining why the candidate deserves the award, describing the impact and outcomes of their environmental sustainability and ecological sensitivity activities, and sharing their future predictions related to this field.
  • For each work that meets the specified criteria, various supporting documents, such as activity reports, activity certificates, news articles, visuals of the activities, etc., are required.
  • If requested, reference letters evaluating the candidate’s performance in this field from authorized persons, instructors of relevant courses, and advisors.

Students wishing to apply for the Environmental Sustainability Leadership Award should prepare the application documents mentioned above and email them to the Sustainability Commission of KÜN at surdurulebilirlik@kapadokya.edu.tr before March 31 each year.
