Artificial intelligence represents one of the greatest transformations in humanity’s relationship with knowledge. Yet this time, we are facing an unusual situation. We are not merely directing it; it is also guiding us. This relationship goes far deeper than simply using a hammer to break down a wall. What we are using can learn autonomously and interpret our intentions, tone, and even our values, becoming a partner in the process.
This transformation differs from all previous turning points in the history of technology: for the first time, a “tool” is moving beyond being a passive object of action and becoming an actor with its own agency.
In this new order, the real question is not who possesses intelligence, but who retains agency. Humans are becoming both the guides and reflections of the systems they create. If we fail to manage this transformation consciously, our relationship with knowledge production may shift from creation to dependency and from meaning to automation. Moreover, if we fail to instill the principle of collective benefit for the planet, its darker side may become increasingly powerful.
If we can bring this “collective intelligence” together with a culture grounded in ethics, intuition, and curiosity, this technology may carry us into a new stage of existence. The true power of artificial intelligence lies in its ability to compel us to rethink what it means to be human.
