Environmental Sustainability Leadership Award
The Environmental Sustainability Leadership Award recognizes projects, initiatives, and research in areas such as environmental sustainability, sustainable energy, pollution prevention, waste management, animal rights, organic agriculture and production, food security, ecological architecture, ecological economics, sustainable cities, and related fields.
It also covers awareness-raising activities aimed at enhancing ecological sensitivity by emphasizing the significance of these issues in the context of the climate crisis, fostering public awareness through various cultural and educational initiatives, and encouraging more environmentally responsible lifestyles and everyday practices.
Students in their graduating year may apply for the Environmental Sustainability Leadership Award by documenting the environmental sustainability activities they have carried out throughout their period of study, either on or off campus.
The award is presented annually to one student. For the 2025–2026 Academic Year, the award amount has been set at TRY 15,000.
Eligibility
Applications are open to students in their graduating year who, throughout their studies, have made significant contributions to environmental sustainability both within and outside the University by participating in sustainability initiatives, promoting ecological awareness, and designing or implementing sustainability-related projects in one or more of the following areas:
Steps Toward Environmental Sustainability
- Participating in environmental sustainability initiatives organized within the University.
- Designing environmental sustainability projects and/or conducting academic research within the University.
- Developing projects and organizing activities outside the University that promote environmental sustainability and ecological awareness.
- Organizing awareness-raising events and/or projects on campus to enhance ecological consciousness and environmental responsibility.
- Participating in the activities of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working on environmental sustainability and ecological awareness outside the University.
Required Application Documents
Applicants must submit the following:
- A personal statement explaining why they deserve the award, describing the environmental sustainability and ecological awareness activities they have undertaken, their impact and outcomes, and their vision for the future of this field.
- Supporting documentation for each activity that meets the eligibility criteria, such as activity reports, certificates of participation, news articles, photographs, or other evidence demonstrating the applicant’s contributions.
- Letters of recommendation (if requested) from authorized individuals involved in the activities, course instructors, or academic advisors evaluating the applicant’s performance and contributions in this field.
Application Procedure
Students wishing to apply for the Environmental Sustainability Leadership Award should prepare the required application documents and submit them via email to the KÜN Sustainability Commission at surdurulebilirlik@kapadokya.edu.tr no later than March 31, 2026.
