Our university, which aims to develop exemplary practices and approaches that can have an impact on environmental and cultural heritage, particularly in the Cappadocia region, through natural and cultural sustainability policies, supports natural and cultural sustainability through education, training, and research activities, and includes courses on environmental and cultural issues in all levels of education programs, has joined the United Nations Higher Education Sustainability Initiative Network (HESI), established to enhance the role of higher education in supporting sustainable development.
The HESI community, which aims to increase collaboration among higher education institutions on sustainability and has 780 members, offers a multi-stakeholder dialogue and implementation platform. HESI is managed by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs and the Sulitest Association, comprising higher education institutions, universities, and student organizations. Other collaborators of HESI include UNESCO, the UN Environment Programme, the UN Global Compact Principles for Responsible Management Education Initiative, the UN University, UN-HABITAT, UNCTAD, UNITAR, the UN Office for Partnerships, and the UN Academic Impact.
HESI, through its annual Global Forum, addresses the importance of higher education in the context of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Institutions that are members of the United Nations Higher Education Sustainability Initiative Network can participate in action groups, online seminars, and events focused on sustainable development and higher education.
