Environmental Humanities refers to interdisciplinary, environment- and ecology-focused studies in the social sciences and humanities that have developed particularly in response to the climate crisis, which has become a major issue on the global agenda over the past two decades. These studies examine ecological challenges such as global warming, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution from social, cultural, and economic perspectives, while critically exploring the relationship between humans and the more-than-human world. By bringing together fields such as environmental justice and ethics, environmental history and philosophy, ecocriticism, social ecology, ecofeminism, ecopsychology, ecomedia, art, and ecology, Environmental Humanities offers a multidimensional perspective on the ecological challenges of our time.

The 2nd National Environmental Humanities Conference was held online on 25–26 July 2023, jointly hosted by the Faculty of Humanities and the Environmental Humanities Research and Application Center at Cappadocia University. The conference aimed to bring together researchers working in the emerging field of Environmental Humanities in Türkiye, provide an interdisciplinary platform for exchange and discussion, evaluate the existing body of national scholarship, and encourage dialogue and collaboration for future research.

This book brings together the abstracts of the papers presented at the conference, contributing to academic dialogue in the field of Environmental Humanities and providing a foundation for and inspiration to future research.
