Artvin Tourism Master Plan Prepared by Cappadocia University Unveiled

The Artvin Tourism Master Plan, outlining the province’s tourism vision for the 2026–2030 period, was officially unveiled.

The launch ceremony, held at the Artvin Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports Conference Hall, brought together a wide range of participants, including Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Nadir Alpaslan, Artvin Governor Turan Ergün, Artvin Member of Parliament Faruk Çelik, Artvin Mayor Bilgehan Erdem, Artvin Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Dr. Yunus Emre Aytekin, protocol members, representatives of public institutions, non-governmental organisations, and stakeholders from the tourism sector.

Coordinated by the Artvin Governorship and prepared by Cappadocia University, the 2026–2030 Artvin Tourism Master Plan was introduced to the public during the event. The programme focused on strategies for evaluating the province’s natural, cultural, and historical assets through a sustainable tourism approach. Particular emphasis was placed on the planned development of Artvin’s potential in nature tourism, plateau tourism, cultural tourism, gastronomy, and adventure tourism.

Representing Cappadocia University, Prof. Dr. Bilgehan Gülcan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Halil Burak Sakal, and Research Assistant Fatıma Tüzzehra Albayrak attended the launch. During the event, Prof. Dr. Bilgehan Gülcan presented the objectives, strategic roadmap, and sustainable tourism policies of the 2026–2030 Artvin Tourism Master Plan.

Drawing on its academic expertise in tourism education and research, Cappadocia University continues to translate its knowledge into practice through tourism master plans and destination development projects carried out across Türkiye. The Artvin Tourism Master Plan represents another significant outcome of this experience, contributing to the evaluation of the province’s natural, cultural, and historical assets through scientific research, field studies, input from local stakeholders, and the principles of sustainable development.

During the programme, speakers emphasized that Artvin’s strong tourism potential can be further enhanced through collaborative decision-making, local partnerships, and planned investments. The 2026–2030 Tourism Master Plan aims to increase tourism revenues while preserving the province’s natural environment, enhance the visitor experience, and strengthen Artvin’s position as a competitive destination at both the national and international levels. The launch programme concluded with the opinions and recommendations of tourism sector representatives.
