With support from Movies that Matter and UNDP Türkiye, Sustainable Living Film Days (SYFG), featuring 12 documentaries from the Sustainable Living Film Festival selection, will be held online at surdurulebiliryasam.net from February 4-7, 2021, organized by our university’s Center for Environmental Humanities.

SYFG, which addresses human rights by examining the relationship between ecological and social problems through a sustainability perspective, will include not only film screenings but also online panels and discussions with invited speakers. The program will feature online talks with: Prof. Dr. Nüzhet Dalfes, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arda Borlu from Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Ceyhan Temürcü from Four Seasons Ecological Life Association, Dr. Önder Çetin from Ege University Department of English Language and Literature, Dr. Yeşim Bekyürek from Cappadocia Organic Agriculture Producers Association, Şükran Başdoğan from Women Farmers Ecological Education and Production Center, and members of the Sustainable Fashion Platform. The talks will be broadcast live on our university’s YouTube channel.

The SYFG selection consists of documentaries that holistically address many fundamental issues – from basic health services to child labor and child slavery, from responsible supply chains in food and textile sectors to conflict and war, from climate change to energy problems, from water access rights to toxic-free food access – while inspiring with creative solutions. The films reveal the relationship between ecological and social systems and also present the impactful social initiatives of solution-oriented individuals.

SYFG is open to participation not only from students and academics, but also from participants in local governments, the public and private sectors, non-governmental organizations, educational institutions, and especially residents of Cappadocia who are interested in sustainability issues.

To participate in the event, first register as a “Follower” on surdurulebiliryasam.net and then register for sessions. The required CODE for session registration: SYFG2021_KAPADOKYA
