The “Critical Animal and Plant Studies” conference, organized in collaboration with Cappadocia University’s Center for Environmental Humanities and the Department of English Language and Literature at the Faculty of Humanities, will be the second in this international conference series that began in 2019. The main objective of the Second Environmental Humanities Conference is to examine the often overlooked connections and relative differences between critical animal and plant studies, enabling discussions in both fields to take place on a common platform. As such, to our knowledge, this conference is the first in the world to address critical animal and plant studies jointly. The conference also aims to analyze the discursive and practical dimensions of human-animal and human-plant relationships through various literary, cultural, and artistic texts; to highlight the environmental destruction caused by the crisis in these relationships; and ultimately to propose new ways of thinking and fresh perspectives to help remedy the ecological destruction we are experiencing, particularly in the context of plant, animal, and human relationships.
