A technical tour to the Kaman Kalehöyük Archaeological Museum and Japanese Gardens, carried out within the framework of the Japanese Government’s “Cultural Heritage Protection Project,” is being organized by the Architectural Restoration program. The museum’s landscaping has been arranged in the style of a tumulus currently under excavation. In this way, visitors can see both the findings unearthed during the excavations and the excavation methods and practices themselves. The museum is one of the rare examples inspired by the Kalehöyük structure, featuring exhibition halls, a video screening corner, a library, laboratories for study, research, photography, and restoration work, a café, storage areas, and technical departments. In addition, the most extensive botanical garden outside Japan has been built here in the style of a “Japanese garden.” The museum received the “Best Green Museum” award in 2011 and was nominated for the “European Museum of the Year” award in 2012.
