Within the scope of the “KAM Talks” series, we are holding our first conference of the new year under the theme of “Archaeology and Art History.”
On Friday, January 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM, Prof. Dr. Andreas Schachner from the German Archaeological Institute will deliver a lecture titled “The Excavations at Hattusha.”
The findings obtained from the excavations at Hattusha, one of the most important archaeological sites in Anatolia, are of critical importance for understanding the region’s past cultural, economic, and political dynamics. This settlement, which once served as the capital of the Hittite Empire, contains a wealth of information reflecting the cultural richness left to us by one of the earliest great civilizations of Anatolia.
Prof. Dr. Schachner will share the latest data from the excavation works and present findings on the economic structure of Hittite culture, particularly in relation to agriculture and animal husbandry, evaluating its place within the history of Anatolian civilizations.
The event is open to the public. To participate, it is sufficient to send an email to kam@kapadokya.edu.tr.
