Biodiversity in Coastal Areas: Scope, Issues, Threats

This work, authored by Hikmet Kuran, addresses the scope, issues, and threats of biodiversity in coastal areas. Published by Efil Publishing, the book provides a comprehensive resource on the conservation of coastal ecosystems and the sustainable management of biodiversity in Turkey.

With the Industrial Revolution and the Enlightenment, the idea of human dominance over nature, which began to emerge and gain international visibility, along with the accompanying struggle for the distribution of resources, left a profound mark, especially in the 20th century. Nature, caught between the mechanistic worldview in theory and the struggle for natural resource sharing in practice, suffered irreversible destruction, doomed to lose its inherent characteristics and values one by one. One of the natural assets that faced degradation and extinction was biodiversity; many species and genetic resources were adversely affected by this situation.
