Project Summary | This study plans to synthesize new environmentally friendly polymers using natural polymers. Autoxidation is the epoxidation and peroxidation of unsaturated oils with atmospheric oxygen, leading to the degradation of oils. New tannic acid-grafted polypropylene copolymers will be synthesized, and the oxidation of vegetable oils under white light in the open air on these copolymer films will be monitored. For this purpose, chlorinated polypropylene will be reacted with tannic acid to obtain a series of polypropylene-tannic acid copolymers. The oxidation of the oil will be compared in a glass petri dish, and the antioxidant effect will be monitored by measuring the viscosity increase due to the polymerization of the oil using a capillary viscometer. This framework will investigate the antioxidant effects of natural products, and alkaloids grafted onto chlorinated polypropylene and polyvinyl chloride. Additionally, studies on synthesizing new biodegradable materials by grafting fatty acids onto packaging polymers will continue. |
