EcoFilm Platform Nominated for ‘Environmentalist Initiative of the Year’ at Bosphorus Environment Awards

EkoFilm Platform was nominated in the “Environmentalist Initiative of the Year” category at the fourth Bosphorus Environment Awards organized by the Boğaziçi University Electrotechnology Club (BUEC IEEE).

The EcoFilm Platform, established within the scope of the project carried out by our University’s Environmental Humanities Application and Research Center, plays a vital role in raising environmental awareness in the sector and society with its projects and activities for environmentally friendly film production. The nomination in the “Environmentalist Initiative of the Year” category at the Bosphorus Environment Awards again demonstrates the importance and effectiveness of the platform’s environmentally friendly work. These prestigious awards, which aim to raise environmental awareness and promote sustainability, reward individuals and organizations who have taken essential steps in the fight against the climate crisis. Expressing their pride for this nomination, the EkoFilm Platform team said, “Being nominated for the Bosphorus Environment Awards indicates that the steps we have taken for a sustainable future are appreciated. We want to thank everyone who supported us in this process.”

What is the EkoFilm Platform?

EkoFilm: Sustainable Production Platform provides a roadmap to popularize environmental sustainability practices in filmmaking and to raise social awareness on this issue by using the industry’s potential to create impact. EkoFilm: Sustainable Production Platform was created within the scope of the project “Connect 4 Environmental Sustainability in Film and the Media,” supported by the British Council’s Going Global Partnerships program Connect4Innovation: UK-Turkey Higher Education Institutional Partnerships Fund.

The project, prepared by Dr. Ekin Gündüz Özdemirci and Nurten Bayraktar from the Environmental Humanities Application and Research Center team of our university, aims to spread environmentally friendly practices in the film and TV industry and to raise awareness of the climate crisis. The project includes training for students, educators, and industry professionals on environmental sustainability practices and the development of sustainability guidelines for the film and TV industry in Turkey.
