GreenStars has approved the “GreenStars Sustainability Model Compliance Statement,” which is the institutional declaration of our university’s commitment to aligning its business processes and activities with the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in line with its vision and strategies.
GreenStars is a compliance and certification program initiated by the Yıldız Technical University Technology Transfer Office. It aims to enhance climate change adaptation and resilience, contribute to improvements in environmental and human health, ensure education and social equality, support economic growth, and promote the circular economy in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. It is also used to define environmental performance. As of November 30, 2022, our university has officially become one of the GreenStars stakeholders, which includes public and private sector organizations representing various sectors and adopting sustainable development principles. GreenStars aims to support institutions with approved “Compliance Statements” in developing their visions and strategies under the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, considering the conditions of the Paris Agreement and the priority areas of the Green Deal, to contribute to national alignment strategies and targets, and to help them fulfill their corporate responsibilities.
In this context, our university, whose “GreenStars Sustainability Model Compliance Statement” has been approved, will undergo a one-year institutional monitoring process during the targeted certification phase. Its environmental, economic, and social sustainability performances will be tracked through key performance indicators grouped under four main categories. Following the evaluation and analysis of these indicators, if deemed appropriate, the university will be eligible to receive the “GreenStars Certificate,” valid for one calendar year.
