Environmental Sustainability Leadership Award
Definition and Criteria
The Environmental Sustainability Leadership Award aims to support the achievements of senior students who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to environmental sustainability efforts and conducted awareness activities to foster ecological consciousness throughout their university education.
The purpose of this award is to encourage the cultivation of students who are competent and ecologically sensitive enough to propose sustainable solutions to the ecological crisis, which is one of the top priorities on the global agenda today.
Environmental sustainability efforts and research encompass a range of projects, practices, and studies on topics such as sustainable energy, pollution, waste management, animal rights, organic agriculture and production, food security, ecological architecture, ecological economics, and sustainable cities. Awareness activities aimed at enhancing environmental consciousness include events and projects designed to clarify the importance of these issues within the context of the climate crisis, raise awareness through various cultural tools, and promote more harmonious lifestyles and daily practices that are in harmony with the natural environment.
Students in their graduation year can apply for the Environmental Sustainability Leadership Award by documenting the activities they carried out on or off campus during their education.
The award, which will be granted to one student each year, is set at 5,000 TL for the 2023–2024 academic year.
Students in their graduation year can apply for this award if they have contributed to environmental sustainability efforts and ecological awareness through the following areas during their education:
- Participating in environmental sustainability efforts conducted within the university
- Designing and/or conducting academic studies or projects on environmental sustainability within the university
- Organizing awareness events and/or projects to enhance ecological consciousness and awareness within the university
- Participating in the work of non-governmental organizations focused on environmental sustainability and ecological awareness outside the university.
- Designing and conducting activities and projects outside the university aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and ecological sensitivity
Required documents forthe application:
- A statement of purpose in which the candidate explains why they deserve the award, describes the impact and outcomes of their environmental sustainability and ecological awareness activities, and shares future insights related to this field.
- Various supporting documents for each of the mentioned criteria, such as activity reports, certificates, news articles, visual documentation of activities, etc.
- If desired, reference letters evaluating the candidate’s performance in this field from authorized individuals, course instructors, and advisors related to the activities conducted.
Students wishing to apply for the Environmental Sustainability Leadership Award should prepare the required application documents listed above and send them to the KÜN Sustainability Commission via e-mail at eko@kapadokya.edu.tr before March 31 each year.
