The December 2021 issue of Ekosen: Kapadokya Journal of Environmental Humanities (Ecocene: Cappadocia Journal of Environmental Humanities) has been published. This electronic, open-access, international, peer-reviewed, and interdisciplinary environmental humanities journal is published biannually by our university, which hosts Turkey’s first and only Center for Environmental Humanities.

Published in English, this issue explores the theme of “Pastoral in the Anthropocene Era,” emphasizing the need to reevaluate pastoral traditions in our current era of unprecedented human impact on the ecology. Alongside thematic articles, Ekosen continues its tradition of featuring reviews of recent publications in environmental humanities, as well as Anthropocene-themed stories, poems, artworks, and other creative works that expand our cognitive, imaginative, and ethical capacities.

Addressing pressures from global climate crises and ongoing ecological and social transformations, Ekosen publishes interdisciplinary articles that bridge the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. All articles are freely available through open access. Previous issues can be accessed on the journal’s website: https://ecocene.kapadokya.edu.tr/index.php/ecocene
