September 29 is International Food Loss and Waste Awareness Day

In order to draw attention to the effects of food loss and waste worldwide and to raise awareness on this issue, “International Food Loss and Waste Awareness Day” is celebrated every year on September 29.

Food loss and waste refers to the loss of food in the supply chain from harvest to the market or in the stages before reaching the consumer (food loss) and the disposal of food without being used after reaching the consumer (food waste).

Food loss and waste refers to the waste of all resources such as water, land, energy, labor and capital.

Food loss and waste negatively affects food security and access to food.

Food loss and waste can lead to increased food costs.

International Food Loss and Waste Awareness Day aims to encourage global cooperation to solve these problems.

KÜN Sustainability Office invites everyone to be aware of food loss and waste on the “29 September 2023 Food Loss and Waste Awareness Day” organized by the UN and FAO.
