About the Award
Definition and Criteria
The Environmental Sustainability Leadership Award aims to support the achievements of final-year students who have shown outstanding success in participating in environmental sustainability efforts and conducting awareness activities to develop ecological sensitivity throughout their university education.
The purpose of this award is to encourage the cultivation of students who possess the competence and ecological sensitivity to propose sustainable solutions to the ecological crisis, which is one of the most pressing global issues of our time.
Environmental sustainability efforts and research encompass projects, practices, and studies related to sustainable energy, pollution, waste management, animal rights, organic farming and production, food security, ecological architecture, ecological economics, sustainable cities, and more. Awareness activities aimed at developing ecological sensitivity include events and projects that clarify the importance of these topics in the context of the climate crisis, raise awareness through various cultural tools, and promote more harmonious lifestyles and daily practices with the natural environment.
Students in their graduation year may apply for the Environmental Sustainability Leadership Award by documenting their activities carried out both on and off-campus during their educational period.
The award amount, which will be given to one student each year, has been set at 8,000 TL for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Students who can apply for this award are those in their graduation year who have contributed in the following areas during their educational period through participation in environmental sustainability efforts both within and outside the university, ecological sensitivity and awareness-raising activities, project design, and implementation:
- Participating in environmental sustainability activities conducted within the university.
- Designing environmental sustainability projects and/or conducting academic studies within the university.
- Organizing awareness-raising activities and/or projects aimed at increasing ecological sensitivity and awareness within the university.
- Participating in the activities of non-governmental organizations focused on environmental sustainability and ecological sensitivity outside the university.
- Designing events and projects focused on developing environmental sustainability and ecological sensitivity outside the university.
Required Documents for Application:
- A personal statement explaining why the candidate deserves this award, outlining the impact and results of their environmental sustainability and ecological sensitivity activities, and discussing their future perspectives in this area.
- Evidence documents for each of the specified criteria, such as activity reports, certificates of activity, news articles, visuals from activities, etc.
- If desired, reference letters from authorized individuals, instructors of relevant courses, and advisors assessing the candidate’s performance in this area.
Students wishing to apply for the Environmental Sustainability Leadership Award must prepare the above application documents and send them to the KÜN Sustainability Commission’s email address, eko@kapadokya.edu.tr, before March 31 each year.
